Automotive Shunt-Based ±500A Precision Current Sensing Reference Design

This shunt-based current sensor reference design provides an accuracy of < 0.2% FSR over a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. Precision current sensing is essential in a number of automotive applications, including battery management systems, motor currents, and others. Generally, nonlinearity, temperature drift, shunt tolerances in these locations can cause poor accuracy results.

Battery Pack Controller Communications Bridge Reference Design

The Bridge BoosterPack demonstrates the bq76PL455A-Q1 configured as a dedicated communications bridge to translate MCU UART communications to the bq76PL455A-Q1 daisy chain. The bq76PL455 Bridge BoosterPack also offers an isolated current sense input for measuring battery pack current, as well as an isolated voltage measurement. Learn more

Class 8 High Power PoE Isolated Active Clamp Forward Converter (24V/3A) Reference Design

This reference design is a high power PoE Powered Device (PD) plus active clamp forward converter. The TPS2373 high power PD controller EVM (TPS2373-4EVM-758) provides all functions necessary to implement an IEEE802.3bt-ready PD. This is paired up with an active clamp forward converter utilizing the UCC2897A controller. 100W Dimmable DC-DC LED Driver with Daylight Harvesting and Wireless Connectivity Reference Design

The TIDA-01095 TI design is a tested DC-DC LED driver subsystem for high power, high efficiency dimmable LED luminaires. It is built-on a wireless SoC platform which can enable intensity adjustment through analog, PWM dimming and control using any BLE smart device or ZiBee. High Bay and Low bay LED lighting luminaires are replacing the fluorescent and HID lights as they cut energy consumption in half and nearly eliminate maintenance costs.
Daylight harvesting using the dimming feature combined with ambient light sensor, can provide up-to additional 50% energy savings depending on the application. 20-bit, 1-MSPS Isolator Optimized Data Acquisition Reference Design Maximizing SNR and Sample Rate

TIDA-01037 is a 20-bit, 1 MSPS isolated analog input data acquisition reference design that utilizes two different isolator devices to maximize signal chain SNR and sample rate performance. For signals requiring low jitter, such as ADC sampling clocks, TI’s ISO73xx family of low jitter devices are used whereas TI’s high speed ISO78xx family of devices are used to maximize data sample rate. By combing these two isolator solutions, high frequency performance is significantly improved by minimizing sample clock jitter across the isolation boundary, and data throughput is improved by maximizing isolator signaling rate. Additional improvements are realized by utilizing TI’s advanced ADC multiSPITM and source-synchronous features. Finally, all key design theories are described and measured results presented. Energy Harvesting from Current Transformer with Super Capacitor for Fault Indicator Reference Design

Power management for the energy harvesting, energy buffering and back-up power is a key challenge in the fault indicator design. The TIDA-01385 introduces a circuit about harvesting energy from a current transformer for the system load of a fault indicator while storing the extra energy in a super capacitor. A primary Li/SOCl2 battery is used as back-up power to extend the fault indicator operating time after the power grid fails. With input current from 3mA to 2A, the reference design provides a stable 3.6V to system load within two seconds. Learn more

5V to 3.3V 1.2A DC-DC Converter with 200mS Vout Hold-up Time Circuit Reference Design

The PMP4494 is a 5V to 3.3V 1.2A DC-DC converter with a Vout hold-up circuit. The synchronous buck converter LM20242 is used in the design to provide high efficiency for the system voltage. A boost converter TPS61170 boosts an auxiliary rail from 10V up to 20V to provide the backup voltage. A supply voltage supervisor TLV809 monitors the system voltage and switches the supply to the backup voltage once the system voltage falls below the threshold voltage. Along with the boost circuit, the hold-up capacitance is significantly reduced while still meeting the 200mS hold-up time specification. Learn more

TIDA-00707 is a 1-kW, compact (100mmX80mm) power factor converter (PFC) designed for telecom, server, and industrial power supplies. This reference design is a continuous conduction mode boost converter, implemented using a UCD3138A Digital Power Supply controller with all protections built-in. Hardware is designed and tested to pass conducted emissions, surge, and EFT (as per EN55014) requirements.
This reference design provides a ready platform of front-end PFC to address various power supplies up to 1 kW, improves overall system performance lower bus capacitance, lower RMS currents, and front-end protections. Smartphones and other handheld equipment with 3AHr+ 1S Li-Ion batteries require 3-A+ charger current for fast charging. Parallel chargers allow for high charge currents, resulting in shorter charge times, while distributing the heat losses across the end equipment PCB, thereby preventing hotspots. PMP20430 is a 4-switch buck-boost controller utilizing the LM5175 for industrial applications.
