Typical Applications for RF Inductors

Now that we’ve covered a general overview, the materials used, and the importance of the Q factor in RF Inductors, our blog series continues with typical applications for these inductors.

What are the typical applications for RF inductors? Well, we have situations in which we could use them for valence circuits, matching circuits and filtering circuits.

These are not the only applications, but they are the most common ones. Some components used are sending and receiving wireless signals. There is a RF controller, a valance circuit, a filter, a matching circuit, and an antenna as the output.

We can look deeper into the block diagrams and taking one specific example: a chip from Texas Instruments. We can block out a valence circuit with its corresponding RF inductors, a filter and matching circuit here, and of course antenna.

Every RF inductor is not built the same way. They all have different features or characteristics. Therefore, it's important to understand their construction because their construction determines, for example, their Q factor, the range of inductance that's available, and the RTC or impedance characteristics.
